IPL, or intense pulsed light, is used to improve many conditions associated with sun damage as well as a variety of other issues. Below is a list of some of the conditions for which IPL is used at Laser Light Vein Treatment Center.

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Age spots
  • Rosacea
  • Facial veins
  • Hyperpigmentation (sun damaged skin)
  • Port wine stains
  • Poikiloderma (redness on neck and chest)

Any area of the body can be treated but the most common are face, neck, chest and the hands. IPL treatment consists of the careful application of light pulses directly over the targeted area of the skin.

Sun exposure and tanning lotions should be avoided for a few weeks prior to treatments. No other special precaution or preparation is needed. A topically applied anesthetic cream is sometimes used. The average patient will require 3-5 sessions spaced 2-4 weeks apart. Most patients experience a mild redness that resolves a few hours after the treatment. There is no downtime!

Fotofacial™+Plus is a procedure that uses Intense Pulsed Light combined with Diode Laser Technology, applied to the face, forehead, neck, and chest for the treatment of various conditions that cause discolorations of the skin. Fotofacial™ +Plus is often the treatment of choice for sun damaged skin and age-related skin color changes. It is considered the most effective treatment available for Rosacea, redness, and excessive flushing of the skin.

A Fotofacial™ treatment also works to improve the visible signs of aging skin by stimulating collagen production, thereby providing a skin tightening effect that can reduce fine lines. Reduction of pore size is a further benefit of the procedure.

Fotofacial™+Plus typically consists of five treatments lasting 45 minutes, spaced three weeks apart. Pulses of intense light are passed into the skin at all sites where treatment is desired. A doide laser is then used to further treat the areas of skin with excessive redness. Discomfort is minimal, with heat being sensed during the pulses of light and with a fleeting rubber band snap sensation often noted during the diode laser administration. There is no downtime. Normal activities can be resumed immediately, though it is recommended to minimize sun exposure for a couple of weeks.

Realistic expectations are up to 80% reduction of redness, flushing and irregular pigment. Skin becomes smoother and pore size smaller.
