Symptoms of varicose veins can get worse during warm weather or among people who have been standing up too long.
However, experts have revealed there are are many myths surrounding the condition – including those who believe crossing your legs can increase the risk of varicose veins.
In reality, 30 per cent of all adults will be affected by varicose veins and, contrary to popular belief, the condition can strike at any time of life.
As with the majority of medical conditions, they are more common the older one gets but that doesn’t stop young people getting them if their genes determine it.
